Carpe Jugular

I um… borrowed this site’s name (which is fake latin for “seize the throat”) from the title of a book by one of my favorite authors, Terry Pratchett. We share the same sense of humor, although I am better at laughing than at making other people laugh. It further seemed appropriate because I believe that success comes, not as a result of trying to be successful, but simply by being passionate about what you do: seizing life by the throat.

My name is John Foulds and I was born in England, more years ago than I care to remember. Because of my habit of signing office memos with just my initials, I have been “jayeff” since before the Internet was even a twinkle in Al Gore’s eye. So the first time I needed an online nickname, “jayeff” was it.

I began working life in chartered accountancy, realized one day that I hated it and have worked for myself ever since, running businesses in some very diverse fields. I have lived most of my adult life in London, although along the way I spent several years in Israel and the US. In Israel, alongside my businesses, I wrote regularly for all the main daily newspapers and authored The Book of Cocktails, which was a best-seller for a long time and is still in print after twenty years.

Computers & Internet

I have been working with computers for almost twenty-five years, five of them as a consultant project manager for various large corporations. In 1996, when health problems forced me to seek a less stressful occupation, working online seemed an obvious solution.

I began by building dating and AVS sites, later submitting to TGP’s and links lists and finally running my own TGP’s. In 2002 I had three sites in Sex Tracker’s Top 50, but these days my remaining adult sites pretty much run themselves and I split my time between mainstream sites and working on assignments for clients.
